Drawing inspiration from New York City politician Zohran Mamdani, Eralp utilized high energy social media content and professional vibe branding to reach millions of viewers online. This strategy allowed her to translate complex democratic socialist ideals into relatable messages about working class struggles and social injustice. Members of her own party even traveled to New York to study Mamdani’s tactics, hoping to replicate his success in fighting neoliberal policies within their own city limits.
Beyond the numbers and trends, Eralp envisions transforming Berlin into what she calls a solidarity city. With a background as a lawyer and experience with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, she aims to dismantle stigmatizing police checks and increase political inclusion for migrants and refugees. From proposing municipal ownership of housing to planning New Year receptions for the homeless at city hall, her agenda is rooted in inclusivity.
